House of Glass

Laurin Kaiser

I‘m sitting at one of the three connected blue chairs in the edge of a hallway.

My legs are shaking. Also I’m biting my nails again.

Stop.

Remember to focus on breath. Breathing in I feel my belly rising, breathing out it is sinking again. Your inner ocean.

Blue like the empty table tennis plate in the middle of the hallway. The loud disturbing noise of the heavy Glas door brings me back to reality. A tall guy enters first. He’s wearing a white pullover with a little red heart on the upper left side. Positioning with a broad chest, flipping the also red racket in his hands he seems to be a more controlled breather than me. Is he a patient? Rather not I guess. On the other side of the table an all black dressed girl is giving her best to enjoy the play. She’s changing her racket after having lost 3 times against the 2 heads taller guy. Doesn’t help. Still she is continuing playing. Not giving up until two women enter the hallway having little plastic chip cards attached to their skinny jeans. They first look at the two players then turn their head towards me.

„Come with us, Sir“

I’m standing up turning my back towards the disturbed players.

A few meters away I finally start to hear the little plastic ball kicking from the heart red racket towards the blue table reminding me of my little breathing waves again.
