17 places you should not visit

This site presents seventeen sites in Hamburg that were chosen by students at the HfbK.¹ Each site is briefly described and shown on a map. You are encouraged to visit these sites and look for the special codes left behind. Scanning the code will activate an audio-visual work that engages with the site. These works will only be accessible on-location. A mobile device and headphones are required.

¹The task: Find a space somewhere in Hamburg that is inaccessible, closed or off-limits. This can be a restricted area, a private room, a back space, a secret place, somewhere invisible that doesn’t exist anymore or anywhere you cannot enter. The aim of the seminar is to develop different experimental approaches for creative trespassing. These could be documentary, fictional or speculative projects, films, performances, theatrical scenes, stories, photos, spatial interventions, or audio guides. The point is not to break the law and go to prison but to creatively think about and negotiate the borders that surround us.
